Drug & Alcohol Free Workplace Course Overview
Substance abuse in the workplace isn’t just a personal problem—it’s an organizational safety and productivity crisis. Workers who abuse drugs or alcohol are three and a half times more likely to be involved in workplace accidents, and 47% of industrial injuries are directly related to alcohol abuse. With millions of Americans struggling with substance abuse, most organizations employ people dealing with addiction or dependency.
The costs are staggering: decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, higher healthcare expenses, workplace accidents, theft, legal liability, and damaged morale. Yet many employees and supervisors don’t know how to recognize substance abuse, approach someone who needs help, or understand their role in maintaining a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
This comprehensive training course equips employees at all levels with the knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to substance abuse in the workplace. Employees learn about the signs and effects of drug and alcohol abuse, understand organizational policies and their responsibilities, identify risk factors and prevention strategies, and discover how to help colleagues get support without enabling destructive behaviors.
